Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology/ KIIT (Deemed to be University) Bhubaneswar has fast emerged as a center of excellence in the field of professional education in India going global. What started in 1992 an ITI functioning from a rented building with only 12 students and two-member faculty is now a diversified group of institutions offering academic programmes from Kindergarten to Post-doctoral level.  KIIT has twenty-three sprawling campuses built on 450 acres of land (spread over 25,00,000 sq. ft built up area) located in an idyllic ecosystem in Bhubaneswar with 126 academic programmes,. Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) University a sister concern University of KIIT, Bhubaneswar is exclusively for the tribal students. KISS combines traditional learning with vocational training to enable the students earn a respectable livelihood on completion of their studies.

QUALITY STANDARDS AT KIIT

KIIT is recognised as a University of Excellence. It had the unique distinction of becoming the youngest educational institution in the country to be declared a University (U/S 3 of the UG Act, 1956) by MHRD, GoI. KIIT become the youngest institution to receive accreditation by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of AICTE for its degrees in technology, computer applications and management. Accreditation took into account the excellence of infrastructure facilities, faculty and academic standards, etc.

ECO FRIENDLY CAMPUS: ‘GO GREEN’

KIIT Green is a bold initiative of KIIT to control environmental pollution and to create a healthy ambiance in and around 25 sq. km. Of area in which different campuses of KIIT are located. The University has drawn ambitious plan to make KIIT campuses absolutely vehicle free. In the first phase, use of two-wheelers, both by students and staffs, has been prohibited, after putting in place an effective alternative transport arrangement. The University has also implemented paperless administration and green Audit annually. Mass plantation has also been taken up. KIIT Green has taken up rainwater harvesting, water management, sewerage treatment, bio-gas and solar energy etc. To name a few.

  • Inception in 1992 as a modest industrial training institute functioning from a rented premise with only 12 students.
  • Conferred University status under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India in 2004.
  • All the technical courses are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE)Academic programmes are also approved by Statutory Bodies of Government of India.
  • Offers academic programmes from kindergarten to postdoctoral level from its campuses built on 450 acres of land.
  • The physical infrastructure is full proof with Central library, separate hostels for boys and girls, indoor and outdoor stadium and administrative and faculty blocks. Each campus has air-conditioned multimedia classrooms, laboratories, conference hall, recreational amenities and other utility services.
  • Currently 30, 000 students are enrolled full-time into its various academic programmes.
  • Own entrance examination (KIITEE) for admission into most of the academic programmes.
