Webinar-cum-workshop “Unity for Peace” to commemorate German Unity Day

German Club of the KIIT School of Languages (KSOL) organized webinar-cum-workshop “Unity for Peace” to commemorate German Unity Day on 3rd October 2021 in the presence of representatives from Goethe Institute / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and students, faculty and staff of KIIT. Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT Deemed to be University; Dr. S. K. Mohapatra, Director, KIIT School of Management and Dr. Biswajit Das, Dean, KSOL graced the occasion.

Guests and keynote speakers from Goethe Institute / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata – Ms. Madhurima Moitra, Head Language Courses & Examinations and Mr. Souvik Biswas, German Language Instructor – made an elaborate presentation about the consequences which led to the fall of Berlin Wall and the re-unification of East and West Germany. The experts also shared the cultural and literary implication of these events through quizzes and interactive Q&A sessions.

While the webinar was meant for commemorating German Unification, the workshop was dedicated for interactive and entertaining sessions on German language and culture which included drama, expressionist dance, quizzes, music and many more. Workshop started with a Demo Class by Mr. Pravin Gupta, German Trainer and Faculty-in-Charge of the Club. A short German drama and a well-choreographed Expressionist Dance was performed by Aishee Ghosh (Biotechnology), Neelotpala Dash (Biotechnology), Agnijita Roy (Mechanical), Srishty Vishwakarma (Management) and Utsa Saha (Biotechnology). The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Anasua Ghosh from the School of Dental Sciences who also sang a beautiful German song. 

The German Club of KIIT School of Languages (KSOL), a first-of-its-kind initiative at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, was launched on 25th June 2021.  As the first foreign language club of the University, this student driven learning forum is constituted to help students acquire knowledge on culture, language, history, lifestyle, work ethics and many more about Germany. The session was initiated and moderated by Ms. Snehagni Roy, a student from School of Biotechnology and coordinator of the German Club.

KIIT School of Languages (KSOL) formally launched the German Club virtually on 25th June 2021 after two months of regular weekly interaction among students of its German courses and their mentors to evaluate feasibility of the first foreign language club of the University and its future role. A first-of-its-kind initiative at KIIT, this Club is constituted to help students acquire knowledge on culture, language, history, lifestyle, work ethics & many more about Germany. This exclusive Club is only meant for all those students who have completed the Certificate Course in German Proficiency with KSOL and are eager to enrich their further knowledge to cater global aspirations.

The launch event of German Club which consisted of speeches, performances & video presentation was completely curated, hosted and moderated by the student representatives of the Club. The session was initiated and moderated by Snehagni Roy.

Dr Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT and Dr Biswajit Das, Dean, KSOL have graced the occasion with their blessings for the students in their noble endeavour to imbibe global values for future life. Mr Dusmanta Chakra, Guest of the Honour who is a highly experienced German Scholar from Pune and Mentor of KSOL’s German Club shared his experience about the association with the Club from its conceptual stage and its growth while appreciating the zeal and involvement of its student members.

The Club which started with three student representatives (Snehagni, Aishee & Srishty), their German trainer Mr Pravin Kumar and the external mentor Mr Dusmanta Chakra conducted meetings every Saturday at 7PM for last two months and has now grown up as a 15 member learning forum from across the University representing prominent Schools. More will join soon from the last two batches of KSOL’s German certificate courses. Members of Club are Aishee Ghosh, Snehagni Roy, Utsa Saha and Neelotpala Dash from School of Biotechnology; Anasua Ghosh from School of Dental Sciences; Aditya Raj Dash from School of Civil Engineering; Srishty Vishwakarma from School of Management; Pratyay Ghatak and Raunak Seal from School of Law; Rajarshi Pal, Sneha Paul and Aditya Kumar from School of Electronics Engineering; Nilabja Sanyal from School of Computer Engineering; Agnijita Roy and Aaryan Somrain from School of Mechanical Engineering.
