Ruler of Thebes, courageous and strong,
Cursed forever due to fate, evil and wrong.
King Oedipus still arouses,
Great fear and wonder in himself
Awe-struck admiration in us.
Born to wealthy family in Athens,
Son of Laius and Jocasta
Active immensely in Athenian public life,
Was the mighty Oedipus Rexona.
He resigned himself to his evil fate,
Fulfilling the prophecy laid upon him,
When he heard the occultist’s words curt,
Words,he failed miserably to escape from hurt.
He knew this time as a king was short.
Failed all his attempts for the curse to abort.
Having murdered his father, the king
Now his mother, Jocasta, wears his ring.
Doom, death and disgrace now haunt the place
Jocasta is now nowhere to be found
And Oedipu’s grief bring him madness.
